Development of Ankle Safe
AnkleSafe is the result of a scientific project carried out by three physiotherapy students at HES-SO Valais/Wallis. Below, we provide you with details of the process.
Identify existing programs
1.
A search was conducted across 4 international scientific databases. It identified 807 articles. After sorting and analyzing the articles, 5 programs were identified.
Analyze programs
2.
The content of the 5 programs was analyzed and compared to the latest scientific recommendations. The analysis concluded that no program complies with these recommendations.
Gather a group of experts
3.
To develop a new program, we consulted five experts. Their expertise, throughout the three phases of development, enabled the creation of a program that aims to meet current recommendations.
Phase 1: Suggest exercises
4.
It was important to propose exercises that had been studied in the literature. 163 exercises were identified and sorted into 4 categories ( reinforcement, range of movement, sensorimotor and functional). Following a pre-selection based on several criteria, 31 exercises were proposed to the experts.
Phase 2: Make it accessible at all levels
5.
Preventing injuries is not only important for athletes but also for everyone. This is why the exercises have been divided into multiple levels.
Phase 3: Validate and digitalize the program
6.
Thanks to the expertise of specialists, a program of 19 exercises was developed. It was then digitized to offer a simple and accessible tool to the widest possible audience.
